Shayla Dube, RCSW, is an ACSW board-approved clinical supervisor with 20 years of trauma-informed and culturally responsive expertise. She meets the CRPO standards of clinical supervision and holds a BSW and MSW from York University. Additionally, Shayla has passed her clinical exam, earning the RCSW title.
Shayla is passionate about destigmatizing, depathologizing, and decolonizing mental health by integrating culturally responsive approaches beyond mainstream modalities. She is an Advanced Tree of Life and COURRAGE practitioner, trained in African-centered narrative therapy approaches such as Narratives in the Suitcase and OUTTRAGED. She is also certified in Kniffley Racial Trauma Therapy and trained in Queer and Aboriginal Narrative Therapy. As an EMDR Certified therapist and consultant-in-training, Shayla is committed to ongoing learning. She recognizes that no amount of training can make one fully culturally competent, so she centers cultural humility in her practice. As a supervisor, Shayla has her own supervisor and regularly consults with elders to deepen her knowledge and understanding.
Our clinical supervision groups are designed to provide culturally affirming, identity-specific spaces for therapists to reflect, learn, and grow in their professional practice. These groups offer a supportive and collaborative environment for therapists at all stages of their careers, fostering connection, mutual learning, and culturally responsive care.
1. Sabona: A space for melanated Black and Brown therapists to navigate shared experiences, explore culturally affirming practices, and support one another’s growth.
2. Umoja: Tailored for melanated East African therapists, this group fosters connection, mutual understanding, and a commitment to culturally responsive care.
3. Wazungu (Abelungu): A reflective space for therapists racialized as White to deepen self-awareness, cultivate anti-oppressive practices, and critically engage with how white supremacy and Eurocentric hegemony manifest in therapeutic spaces.
4. Uvlaaami: Dedicated to Indigenous clinicians, this group honors traditional knowledge, supports culturally grounded therapeutic work, and nurtures an environment of collective healing and learning.
Each group is crafted to meet the unique needs of its members, providing a safe and empowering space to reflect on personal and professional growth while fostering accountability, healing, and cultural resilience.
